Picture Share – Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and Fort Worden State Historical Park

The Hubster and I drove to the west coast to visit our son and his family.

The weather was so gorgeous and we had a great time visiting and getting our family loves.

I am sharing a few scenic photos from two of the places that we enjoyed while we were on the coast.

Enjoy!

A friend expressed interest in these Twin Barns…she wanted to know more, and I did answer her (you can read this in the comments for this post). If you would like to know more about the barns and the refuge, I am editing this post to include the following links.

  2. Are the barns functional? The shoreline photo composition could easily translate into a quilt composition…the rock groupings (beads, baubles, trapunto) and squiggles (hand stiched and/or free motion) are so artistically arranged (by Nature’s Hand!).
    Great to see you, Laura!

    • Hi Laura!

Thanks for asking about the Twin Barns! I should’ve written about them in the post, and I am editing it to answer your question. In short, the barns were used as an environmental education center, but were damaged in the 6.8 magnitude 2001 Nisqually Earthquake and have been closed since then.

Sometimes, I like to take photos just for the color/composition inspiration. I share a photo of rocks or rusted metal and think that no one would be interested in those. Surprise! By all means, make the vision in your head inspired by the photo…it would be cool! 🙂

  4. I visit the wildlife refuge every chance that I get, Diann! Fortunately, the kids love it there, too, and don’t mind taking me there when I visit them! 🙂

The Hubster and I used to take our kids to Fort Worden to camp and play when they were small. We haven’t camped there in a very long time, but we still enjoy playing there!
