Picture Share – Nisqually Wildlife Refuge and Fort Worden State Historical Park

The Hubster and I drove to the west coast to visit our son and his family.

The weather was so gorgeous and we had a great time visiting and getting our family loves.

I am sharing a few scenic photos from two of the places that we enjoyed while we were on the coast.

Enjoy!

A friend expressed interest in these Twin Barns…she wanted to know more, and I did answer her (you can read this in the comments for this post). If you would like to know more about the barns and the refuge, I am editing this post to include the following links.

Fort Worden State Park Part 2

Warning: a picture heavy post!

I am continuing with the visit to Fort Worden State Park.

Fort Worden State Park

The above is a photo of what used to be the Commanding Officer’s quarters.  It now houses a museum.

The following is a sampling of what is in the museum.  (Taking pictures is allowed as long as no flash is used.)

Fort Worden State Park

The pictures shown in yesterday’s post were taken at Fort Worden State Park located near Port Townsend.

It is a wonderful historic place to visit.

Fort Worden State Park

Fort Worden was an active US Army base from 1902 to 1953.  It was named in honor of U.S. Naval Rear Admiral John Lorimer Worden.

Fort Worden State Park

Fort Worden was built as a strategic defense for Puget Sound.

There is hiking, camping, picnic, day use and more to experience.

Lucky me.  I’ve caught a head cold.  I am too tired to show more.  I do have some photos from the museum at the Commanding Officer’s home.  I’ll try to post those soon.

Beach Walk – Fort Worden State Park

The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient.

One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.
