#2 was chosen for the February challenge.
My #2 is the 365 Challenge quilt. Ready or not, time to move it forward!
This flimsy is about 100″ sq. and has been marinating in the closet since December 2022.
The plan for this month is to get it basted.
I have no idea how I am going to quilt it. I am considering an all over design since there are so many seams. I don’t think that I want to custom quilt it.
I will be thinking about that while I am basting the quilt sandwich.
Meantime, if you’d like to know more about this project, then click here.
I am linking up with other challenge participants at Dreamworthy Quilts.
Have fun and carry on!

What a beautiful project!

Laura, thats amazing… you could be very proud. Handstiching or hand quilting is so much fun, so may be you ruin it when you go under a machine to quilt. Wonderful work!!

Eva, if I hand quilt this baby, it will never, ever be done. I am not a hand quilter. Hopefully, I don’t ruin it! 🙂

Beautiful quilt. Thankyou for commenting on my post. I couldn’t reply as the comment didn’t land in my inbox. Blogger is so annoying at times.

That is a gorgeous quilt! I can appreciate how much work went into piecing all of those blocks. And now you have a monster of a quilt to quilt! Haha! I’m sure you’ll find the perfect way to finish it.

You may have just given this quilt its name, Julie. The Monster 365. Ha, ha! 🙂

I clicked on the pix to get a bigger view…and that’s when the detail really stood out to me in context of its size. Oh this is overwhelmingly gorgeous, Laura. In light of all the work you put into making it such a masterpiece, I know you will come up with the perfect quilting finishing touch.
Breathe deep. Begin.

I certainly appreciate the compliment, Laura; both for the detail and my ability to quilt this thing. First up is ironing. I thought that I had hung up the backing carefully, but it has wrinkles. 🙂

Ironing: back to basics, eh?

Ironic that the largest project was chosen in the shortest month.

Laura, it is absolutely stunning! Yes, you must get this basted. It really needs to live in a finished state on someone’s bed.

Getting it basted will be a huge job in itself, but then you might be ready for the next round! Love this quilt and the unusual color choice. Yours in so unique and it looks fantastic!

Thank you so much for the encouragement and compliments, Kathy! I have already started pin-basting, but the afternoon turned out so nice that the Hubster and I headed outside to get some yardwork done. 45 degrees and no rain! No sunshine either, but still, a big blessing! Ha, ha! 🙂

First of all this quilt is gorgeous, reading thru some comments, to hand stitch this would take probably 2 years or so. I hand quilt and thats about the time for me on something like this. I have total confidence you wont ruin this beauty 🙂 (I’d name this one Gorgeous Overload)

It is gorgeous and getting it basted will be a huge step towards its completion. I would then started with a few “registration lines” of quilting to help stabilize and help you get a feel for it under the machine…maybe going around the borders. Congrats for making this a goal to move it along!

I am a firm believer in stitching in the ditch to stabilize when quilting on a domestic, Kathleen! Not only to stabilize, but also to remove some pins (weight) and feel more comfortable with moving around and quilting sections. The largest quilt that I have ever done on a domestic was 108″. It was heavy and a lot of work, but turned out great! It was also a lot of years ago when I was young and dumb. Apparently, I haven’t learned all that much. Ha, ha! 🙂

What an amazing quilt. So much piecing! An all over quilting design sounds like a good choice.

It is a lot of piecing, Allison, but all in small bites at a time. A block a day doesn’t seem like much until you stitch all of those blocks together. 🙂
