Beach Bag Connecting Threads

I guess October/November doesn’t sound like beach weather, especially on the west coast, but I never seem to make projects ‘in season’.

Anyway, these nice large beach bags can be used for books or the market, too. These sturdy bags are about 17″ x 14″ and can contain quite a bit.

There are no interior pockets, but you could certainly add them.

There is a water bottle ‘pocket’. It has no bottom; it is a casing to hold the bottle.

The Beach Bag pattern is a free download from Connecting Threads.

All of these bags are gifted.

They are easy to make, so maybe some more are in my future.

Who What and Where Owls

My previous progress with these owl plush stuffies showed them cut out and partially sewn.

I am happy to say that #3 (drawn in August) from my Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge list is now finished!

Who What and Where Owls

Yes, they do stand on their own!

Each one has a weighted bag in the bottom of the toy (could have used rice, but I have a tote of BB ammo to use up).

These guys are soft and cuddly!

Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge – September Update

I fell behind in the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge, but I am moving projects forward from my challenge list.

I am happy to share that June’s project, #10, really is finished! I found a frame that I like so here ya go:

Fall Moon Embroidery

In July, the #1 was drawn, and my #1 is my Checkerboard Rails project. The design is from Bonnie Hunter. I wanted to use up some of my hand-dyes and I am loving how this is turning out!

Rail Fence

This baby is now a flimsy!

#3 was drawn in August. This plush owl kit from Connecting Threads has been taking up space in the sewing studio for who knows how long.

I have all three owls cut out and partly sewn, so this project is on the move!

September’s number is #7. My #7 is the Garden Baskets project. I used my hand-dyes for this project as well.

(There are links at the end of this post that share my progress up to this point.)

Garden Baskets

I got bored with this, and it has really slowed me down. I must’ve been delirious when I decided that I would hand stitch a couple of hundred leaves in the borders.

Putting Garden Baskets on my challenge list was a great idea, since I am moving this forward!

As you can see from the photos, I have finished one border and am making good progress on a second one.

October’s project is notebook covers. It is the last of this year’s Chookshed Stitchers Challenge 2024. I am taking a trip to see family shortly, and may not get to this last number from the challenge list. At least not in October.

If the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge link shows up before I go on vacation, then I will link up with other challenge participants over at Dreamworthy Quilts. You might like to check it out!
