It is time for a mid-month check-in.
If you read the Declutter post, then you know that I am following Karen Brown’s declutter challenge.
I have purchased some pencil boxes to keep markers and needles in, rather than having them slide all over the drawers where I had them. I have also sent a very full box of patterns and books out of the building. I need to come up with a better way to store quilting rulers that are not used on a regular basis. I think I have a plan for those that will work for me.
Things are getting tidied up, but, I have no photos to share, so you will have to take my word for it.
I look forward to Karen’s challenge every year. Her methods can also be easily applied to other areas of the home…it doesn’t have to stop with the sewing studio. For instance, one of Karen’s declutter challenges is about cleaning up your emails (I need this one!). I recommend taking this challenge if you have a need for a bit of tidying up!
I am also following 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene on YouTube.
I am far from graceful, but I do my best, and the stretching sure has been good for me!
There are definitely no photos of this! Again, you will just have to take my word for it!
I joined the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge, and the number of the month is 6.
That means that my project for the month is this Santa Door Draft kit (I know the photo is blurry, but you can still see what the project is):
I don’t know where this kit came from (I didn’t purchase it), but it has been hanging out in my studio for years. It just gets tossed from basket to basket, and I need to get this made!
Sure, I could just toss the kit into a donation box, but for some unexplainable and unreasonable reason, I just have to make it myself.
I will be brutally honest. I don’t like this kit. At all. The parts are not proportionate and the instructions are not easy to follow.
Getting this far has been a bit of a bloody and sweaty challenge!
I will not be defeated!
I am linking up with the Check-in Party here.
Have fun and carry on!

Laura, sorry your Santa has been a challenge; he is super cute though. You are doing a fantastic job on him. Perhaps someone who didn’t want to make it themselves gifted the pattern to you. Perhaps it was a “reject”.
Good job on the decluttering!

Yoga is great! IT helps get rid of morning stiffness. Those Bucilla kits don’t always have the best quality supplies. I stitched one last year and the floss was awful. The finished kits look good though.

I am doing the Yoga in the morning, and it does help, Donna! I think I ought to sign up for another series in February! I agree…the floss in the kit is awful, along with the directions. I am making it work. 🙂

Hi Laura! I’m so impressed with your list of accomplishments. Great job on Santa’s legs. That kit would intimidate me to the point that it would never be completed. You’re my kit hero. Thanks for the yoga link – I checked it out. Just a giggle – did you see Adriene’s profile picture? Her pose alone would be too much for me to ever achieve. I’ve been following Sarah Starr and her Chair Yoga series for now. That’s about my speed! And decluttering rocks, doesn’t it?! It’s so easy to enjoy the high from the declutter success enough to tackle other areas. I did – my bedroom looks almost as good as the sewing room. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

So far, Adriene has taken it easy on us, and even the easy stuff is hard for stiff-as-a-board old folks like the Hubster and me! You don’t want to see us attempting these workouts! Ha, ha! Chair Yoga is on our list, so thanks so much for a name to check out! Yes, I still have a smile on my face every time I walk into the laundry/pantry area…such an improvement! Kits aren’t my thing, for sure! But I have my parents genes…I will persevere. 🙂

Hopefully, I am done sticking myself with the needle. Ha, ha! He is naughty, but I don’t really blame him…the fault is definitely the designer! 🙂

Laura, the door stopper is the not loved child and he is so sad if you will not love him. He is nice and he will be a big help to keep the cold away at the door.
the yoga link its faboulous… she is perfect, no show, no annoying music, no looooong into, she comes quick to the point/exercises and is precise. Sure, not for beginners but for me in addition to my courses and in times without them … fantastic. thank you so much for the hint!!!! hope waether conditions are not to bad where you stay
happy rest of the week

You are welcome, Eva! Yoga is new to me, so some of it is definitely a challenge…I’ve got to work on on balance and flexibility for sure!
We’ve had subzero temps here, but it warmed up enough for a blizzard all night and day. It’s about 18F currently.
I hope all is going well for you, too, Eva! 🙂

Oh, good for you. If you have to, then you have to. I would have put it in the donation box for sure.

Like I said…unreasonable! Ha, ha! A challenge is a challenge and must be confronted and defeated. 🙂
