Yes, I have been procrastinating. I don’t know why, but I haven’t felt like sewing for a while. I guess basting quilts is not all that exciting.
There has been some overtime at work.
And I did make a gooseberry pie.
Hubby will be picking cherries today, so a cherry pie will be made.
Getting outside and practicing my photography has been lots of fun.
And I have totally finished every stinking seam; that is, stitched in the ditch and removed all of the basting safety pins from this quilt:
I could actually call it done, but I am not. The fun part begins. There will be some free motion quilting happening.
I also started a new project.
I saved alphabet pincushion embroidery patterns that Jenny of Elefantz so generously posted on her blog in 2018. I haven’t worked embroidery in quite a long time, and I’d really like to get back to it. This is an easy way to do that.
I took a white tea towel and divided it into sections for each letter.
Then I traced each letter with a blue washout marker. The first marker that I tried had too heavy of a tip, so thank goodness that it will wash out!
My tracing set up is a clear plexiglass table that Hubby made for me, and an Ott light that I have slid underneath.
All the letters of the alphabet are traced; one in each square.
The letter A is embroidered.
I intend to stitch the letter B today.
And bake a cherry pie.

Beautiful stitching. I still have to quilt that one with the sewing machine myself, but my machine has been in the shop for about a month.

That looks like a fun project! Something about quilting in the summer just doesn’t get it. Maybe it’s the warm weather and the focus on outside?

The alphabet letters will be wonderful, Jenny E is such a talented designer. And I almost drooled over the gooseberries, we hardly ever see them in the gredngrocers, I expect they have a rather short season.

Jenny, I am blessed to have two gooseberry bushes. My challenge is getting to them before the critters do. LOL! I agree…Jenny is talented. I love reading her blog…she shares freely, and I so want the homemaker lifestyle! 🙂

My day has been spent with unexpected visitors at lunch time, and digging up weeds.Tomorrow some planting will happen.

Handwork has been my big draw all summer long, I think because it is so peaceful. I have been picking cherries this week, from our dwarf tree, and have gotten enough for three pies, but it has been very hot so I put them in the freezer for later. I do love Jenny’s blog, God uses her words in a big way. Your quilt is going to be magnificent, getting all the stitch in the ditch finished is a big step forward. There are so many little sections you can take your time and wait for inspiration!

Yes, Kathy…I feel good about the quilt. I can wait until rainy days or until cooler weather happens…it is ready when I am. 🙂
We do have a lot more cherries to pick, and they will end up in the same place as your’s…the freezer. The freezer is a magnificent invention!

OH pretty pretty – and it good to do the small embroidery blocks this way! I still have her Itty Bitty blocks all ready to embroidery, but think life got in my way! LOL. Great work Laura

Never tasted gooseberry pie before – but cherry pie is my favorite tied with peach…
