Beez By Tricia Cribbs Embroidery Design

Just for fun, I fused petal shapes to each block.

And I machine embroidered each petal (or teardrop, or honey drop) to its background.

Cute!

Now, the bane of my current existence…how to finish this thing.

Narrow black sashing? Black with white polka dots? Medium blue sashing?

Dark blue narrow sashing?

Various white prints?

How about no sashing? Or that light grey bee print?

I give up.

This project is not done marinating.

We Can Build A Snowman by Erica Plank

I feel so validated as I share this post.

We are in the midst of a snowstorm.

Therefore, I feel pretty good about sharing that my hand stitchery project is all about the snowman.

No Easter bunnies here.

You know that I can never seem to do anything ‘in season’.

The first block is stitched. I am considering adding beads, but I have time to think about that. I have four more blocks to go.

The pattern is designed by Erica Plank from Unseen Hands.

I have had the pattern for many years, but when I was ready to settle down and make these blocks…well…I couldn’t find my pattern.

I am normally very good at filing my patterns.

While working through Karen Brown’s Declutter Challenge this year, I found the pattern. Right where it should be.

How did that happen?

Does that happen to you, too?

I am not sure that I will make the quilt, yet. I just really wanted to stitch the snowmen.

At my pace, there is all the time in the world to decide that later.

Beez Progress Report

Many of you said that these stitcheries needed color and I agreed.

I went bold.

I had several bee prints that I thought I would use but ended up setting most of them aside. They just weren’t ‘doing it’ for me. Too dark against that black border. Or too white, and not enough color. Whatever. Go big and bright!

I will probably tone it down with more of that black sashing. We will see.

For now, it will marinate while I do some mundane things.

Like clean house…a necessary evil.

Have fun and carry on!
