Grim Ripper

I couldn’t help myself.

This squirrel was so cute! I had to drop everything and make it!

Grim Ripper

I know all you sewists out there relate!

This little guy is only 9.5″ x 12.5″. The free pattern was designed by Terry Chilko and is available here.

I free motion quilted a small meander for the background filler; like the meandering thread on the fabric print that I chose for the back of this little quilt.

I also embroidered a red French knot to the seam ripper.

Let’s Sew Quilt Along Finish!

I can finally put the Let’s Sew quilt project on the finish line!

Woo hoo!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

Bulky seams and tension problems created some time with Jack the Ripper, but we worked it out together.

This quilt spent a lot of wait time spread out on the cutting table.

So much time that the Quilt Inspector created her own artsy addition; enough kitty hair to make a carpet overlay.

I guess she assumed ownership and was using the quilt for her mattress.

Then she must have changed her mind about the sleeping arrangement, because she barfed on the quilt (Was I not supposed to tell you that?).

The commercial orange fabric bled when I cleaned up after the Inspector.

These things never happen to anyone else.  Right?

Slow Sunday Stitching

I have finished stitching Farm Girl.

Farm Girl

She is washed and pressed.

Farm Girl finishes at 4.5″.

Farm Girl

I need to find a suitable frame and then she will be ready for gifting.

At 7:30 am, it is dark and eerie, and it will stay that way all day.  I live in Washington state, so I am currently living under cover of thick smoke.  There is no going outside, except to work and back.  No work today, so I get to be home all day!  Yay!

Since Farm Girl is finished, I will consider my slow Sunday project to be free motion quilting on the Let’s Sew quilt.  I am certainly slow at it!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

But I am making progress!

And today is a good day to spend quilting!

Slow Sunday Stitching

A small amount of hand work happened on the Farm Girl stitchery since last Sunday.

Good thing that there is no hurry.  Or what would be the point to a relaxing slow Sunday?

Farm Girl

I plan on a slow Sunday drive today, so may not stitch.  Sometimes one just needs to get out and enjoy the view.

Meanwhile…remember this?

Lets Sew Quilt Along

I haven’t forgotten either.

So in spite of the heat and the day job, I have been working on free motion quilting.

I hope to finish this project soon.  I’ll show better photos then.

This and That

Yes, I have been procrastinating.  I don’t know why, but I haven’t felt like sewing for a while.  I guess basting quilts is not all that exciting.

There has been some overtime at work.

And I did make a gooseberry pie.

Hubby will be picking cherries today, so a cherry pie will be made.

Getting outside and practicing my photography has been lots of fun.

And I have totally finished every stinking seam; that is, stitched in the ditch and removed all of the basting safety pins from this quilt:

I could actually call it done, but I am not.  The fun part begins.  There will be some free motion quilting happening.

I also started a new project.

I saved alphabet pincushion embroidery patterns that Jenny of Elefantz so generously posted on her blog in 2018.  I haven’t worked embroidery in quite a long time, and I’d really like to get back to it.  This is an easy way to do that.

I took a white tea towel and divided it into sections for each letter.

Then I traced each letter with a blue washout marker.  The first marker that I tried had too heavy of a tip, so thank goodness that it will wash out!

My tracing set up is a clear plexiglass table that Hubby made for me, and an Ott light that I have slid underneath.

All the letters of the alphabet are traced; one in each square.

The letter A is embroidered.

I intend to stitch the letter B today.

And bake a cherry pie.
