Checkerboard Rail Fence

I began making Bonnie Hunter’s checkerboard rail fence pattern in September 2023 with the idea of using up my stash of hand dyed fabric.

Rail Fence

I thought that this project would be colorful and fun.

And it is!

The flimsy was completed in September 2024.

It took a year because I had joined a challenge group and worked through a project a month, so it was often set aside.

That’s okay. This is a hobby, not a job!

Rail Fence

It has taken another year to get to the finish line. Partly procrastination. Partly life events (I am so far behind in reading all of the wonderful blog posts by internet friends, but I will get back into the swing of things).

And I have made it to the finish line!

The back is made from more hand dyes…so happy to use them up!

All quilted and bound!

I will wash it to get that wonderful texture that so many of us love!

Have fun and carry on!

Bonnie Hunter Silk Path Update

During my sewing studio declutter, I chose to work on Bonnie Hunter’s Silk Path quilt project.

Why choose a project to work on during a declutter session? Karen Brown suggests a timer for the declutter and a project for the reward from decluttering.

I think it is a great idea!

You are looking at 549 completed strip sets made from scraps!

I am so happy to move a lot of these brown scraps out of a drawer and into a project!

I will be turning these strip sets into blocks, but that is for another day.

I have done some decluttering, but the Hubster and I decided it was time for a redo.

There will be more than just some decluttering happening!

This is the last time we will see the lime green, black and white.

Upon closer inspection, you can see that the flooring is worn out.

Sewing Studio

Boring peel and stick flooring will replace the black and white, and the walls will be painted a super light grey. It will be better for crafting and sewing (and older eyes). The green absorbed the light and the room will be brighter when it is redone.

Have fun and carry on!

Scrappy Bow Tie Finished!

Bow Tie Leader/Enders

The Baptist Fan quilting and binding are finished!

Bow Tie Leader/Enders

The quilt size is 77″ x 94″…plenty to snuggle under!

I have washed it so that I could have the texture from the quilting.

The back is pieced and the quilting shows up nicely.

I love it!
