Bow Ties, Farm Girl Finish and Birdhouse Updates

Bow Tie Leader/Enders

If I counted correctly (and that is questionable), then I should have 768 bow tie blocks in this basket.

That is enough to sew these into bigger blocks for a layout.

Hubby made a frame for the Farm Girl stitchery, so she is completely finished and ready for gifting!

I love how she turned out!

The birdhouse project (I really should name this thing) has gone from the designing stage to the fused applique stage.

Birdhouse Wall Hanging

I really like it now…definitely enough to finish it!

This is my first post using the ‘new’ WordPress editor. I am a bit lost, but I am figuring it out. Except that I cannot seem to make photos clickable anymore. Hmmmmm?

*I have figured out how to make my photos clickable!  At least for now!

Quilt On!

How I Spent My Saturday Afternoon

I had a very pleasant Saturday afternoon off from the day job, so I spent the time doing some prep work for sewing.

Bonnie Hunter had a leader/ender bow tie challenge back in 2011.  I decided to make this quilt back in 2018 (you can see that post here, and you will find a link to BH).  No hurry.  Nope.  None at all.

I’ve been out of cut squares to make more bow tie blocks, so I cut a few more.  I don’t have a picture of those, but I do have a picture of the finished blocks.

There are more than 578 little bow ties in this basket!

Remember the Lets Sew Quilt Along

I have finally pin basted it!

While I had the pins and table set up, I pin basted Floral Reflections, too.

The inspector got involved…she had to check out the safety aspect!

I will be working on ESS (Every Stinking Seam…Cindy Needham’s version of SITD…Stitch in the Ditch).  This will take a while!

Stay safe.  Stay healthy.  Quilt on!

Distraction

So…I’ve had a tiny distraction.  Just a tiny one.

I couldn’t resist Temecula Quilt Company’s Tiny Tree Sew Along.

These tiny blocks are so cute and fun.  I can make them from scraps…no cutting yardage for this sweet project!

Meantime, the basket continues to fill with bow tie blocks.

The Vintage Ornaments quilt has been completely stitched in the ditch (using Wonderfil Invisafil thread) and all of the basting pins removed.

The appliques have been stitched around as well.  Next up, some decorative (as opposed to functional) machine quilting.

I think I am doing pretty well considering that I haven’t had a full day off from the day job since Thanksgiving Day.  I am determined not to be as depressed as in the past and to stay focused on accomplishing what I can.

So far…so good.
