2025 Goals

I admit, I haven’t given a lot of thought to sewing goals (or any goals) for the new year.

I am participating in Karen Brown’s DeClutter Challenge 2025.

This is my 5th year participating. Karen makes it easy…you approach it with a timer. 15 minutes.

You can handle 15 minutes of declutter a day, can’t you?!

2025 Declutter Challenge Sewing Studio

Karen’s challenge has become so popular now…woodworkers are cleaning their spaces, along with kitchens, closets, offices, and any space that one wants to tackle in easy increments!

This challenge has just started, so if you’d like to join, it is definitely not too late!

Just click on the ‘DeClutter Challenge I’m In’ photo in my sidebar!

2025 Declutter Challenge Sewing Studio

My sewing space is small and always looks cluttered, even when I do have it cleaned up!

The current project involves a lot of strips, so it is spread out on the tables.

I do have a goal of using up stash in 2025. Bonnie Hunter’s Silk Path pattern is one of my solutions towards that goal.

I am using my 1-1/2″ strips and that is what you see in progress in the studio photos.

I like Bonnie’s patterns! She uses scraps and her patterns are well written.

I hope to make a few more scrap quilts to use up stash.

I will also continue to make pillowcases for donation. You can see some of those by clicking here and here.

I have one other goal for 2025, and that is to do more hand embroidery. Once upon a time and long ago, I did a lot of embroidery and I’d like to get back to it.

Once I complete the DeClutter Challenge, I will consider other goals. I know there are UFOs and kits hanging out in the studio that need to be made. I still need seasonal table toppers and the gift box is empty too!

Have fun and carry on!

Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge – September Update

I fell behind in the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge, but I am moving projects forward from my challenge list.

I am happy to share that June’s project, #10, really is finished! I found a frame that I like so here ya go:

Fall Moon Embroidery

In July, the #1 was drawn, and my #1 is my Checkerboard Rails project. The design is from Bonnie Hunter. I wanted to use up some of my hand-dyes and I am loving how this is turning out!

Rail Fence

This baby is now a flimsy!

#3 was drawn in August. This plush owl kit from Connecting Threads has been taking up space in the sewing studio for who knows how long.

I have all three owls cut out and partly sewn, so this project is on the move!

September’s number is #7. My #7 is the Garden Baskets project. I used my hand-dyes for this project as well.

(There are links at the end of this post that share my progress up to this point.)

Garden Baskets

I got bored with this, and it has really slowed me down. I must’ve been delirious when I decided that I would hand stitch a couple of hundred leaves in the borders.

Putting Garden Baskets on my challenge list was a great idea, since I am moving this forward!

Garden Baskets

As you can see from the photos, I have finished one border and am making good progress on a second one.

October’s project is notebook covers. It is the last of this year’s Chookshed Stitchers Challenge 2024. I am taking a trip to see family shortly, and may not get to this last number from the challenge list. At least not in October.

If the Chookshed Stitchers Challenge link shows up before I go on vacation, then I will link up with other challenge participants over at Dreamworthy Quilts. You might like to check it out!

Have fun and carry on!

Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge – July

This year seems to be flying by so fast! We are already into July!

My Chookshed Stitchers challenge for July is Number 1 on the list. You can see my project list in this post.

Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge

Number 1 for me is my Checkerboard Rails project.

This project was begun in September, 2023, and I wrote about this project here and here.

I left off needing more blocks (because naturally, I miscounted), and setting the blocks together.

Rail Fence

Hopefully, this can come together as a flimsy and get a backing for it this month!
