More Vacation – Dungeness Wildlife Recreation Area and Refuge

I am back to the day job, but behind in posting vacation pictures.

How would you like to take a late afternoon stroll here?

Dungeness

We are strolling along the bluffs.

It is a long way down!

A beautiful sunset in a magical place!

When the kids were young, we enjoyed camping at Dungeness Wildlife Recreation Area and Refuge.  This evening, we simply enjoyed our stroll, but in the past, we have taken the time to hike, look for crabs and other beach treasures, and walk out to the lighthouse on the spit.

There is much here to fall in love with!

Fort Worden State Park Part 2

Warning: a picture heavy post!

I am continuing with the visit to Fort Worden State Park.

Fort Worden State Park

The above is a photo of what used to be the Commanding Officer’s quarters.  It now houses a museum.

The following is a sampling of what is in the museum.  (Taking pictures is allowed as long as no flash is used.)

The pictures shown in yesterday’s post were taken at Fort Worden State Park located near Port Townsend.

It is a wonderful historic place to visit.

Fort Worden State Park

Fort Worden was an active US Army base from 1902 to 1953.  It was named in honor of U.S. Naval Rear Admiral John Lorimer Worden.

Fort Worden was built as a strategic defense for Puget Sound.

There is hiking, camping, picnic, day use and more to experience.

Lucky me.  I’ve caught a head cold.  I am too tired to show more.  I do have some photos from the museum at the Commanding Officer’s home.  I’ll try to post those soon.
