June OMG 2017 Goal Update and Flight to Alaska

My June goal for the OMG and Patchwork Times challenges, was to work on an old birdhouse wall hanging project.

One Monthly Goal - Bird House

I’ve done absolutely nothing to it.

I do have ideas, and I want to work on it.  I really do.

But June turned out to be a very busy month.

I am painting an upstairs bedroom.

And the bathroom.

Both rooms will be a very soft gray, and much lighter than they were before.  I hate house painting, but the results are worth it!

Progress is slow, since I am fitting the painting in between work shifts and the usual life stuff.

I took a trip to Alaska at the beginning of this month.  What a lot of fun!  I’d like to do it again!

I have literally hundreds of photos to sort through.  I’d like to make a photo memory book for myself.  This is going to take some time!

I thought I’d share a few photos with you.  These are from the flight to Alaska:

I’ll share more when I get them edited.

June OMG 2017 Goal

Judy, at Patchwork Times, announced #7 as the UFO goal for June.  It is fun to link up and see what other’s are doing!  It is also encouraging!

My UFO/OMG #7 is an old birdhouse project.  You can see how excited I was to finish it.  Ha, ha!

I don’t have a lot of time to sew this month, since I do have a trip planned. I also want to be outside in the garden.

I will be happy to just come up with a plan and get something going.  Once I start, I will get motivated to keep going.

I think.

Sister’s Choice Quilt Block Part 2

Sister's Choice

In a previous post, I shared some quilt design options with the Sister’s Choice block, using straight set layouts.

I think it is fun to play with on point layouts as well.

You never know; you might prefer a design on point.

So here is a layout with the Sister’s Choice block and sashing:

Sister's Choice On Point

The same layout, but a different colorway, and some plain blocks added:

The next few layouts show the Sister’s Choice blocks where some have lines deleted, and some have lines added, to create alternate blocks to play with.

For the lover of quilting designs, it is always nice to have open, or negative, spaces to fill.

For the fun of it, see what happens when you play with the background:

I am sure you can come up with many more ideas; especially when you also play with color/value and border combinations!
