Jenny of Elefantz Designs posted a tutorial on making a cute string bag.
When I was a young girl, my Momma kept a large cone of string in the kitchen. I don’t know what she used it for, but her four daughters used a lot of it playing Cat’s Cradle.
I had to make Jenny’s bag!
I won’t be playing Cat’s Cradle with my sisters, but I will be using that handy string for such things as tying up tomato plants.
Thanks Jenny!

Cute embroidery! Great family memory!!!

My mom always had string in her kitchen too and used it for various things. She also kept a spool of thread, a heavier weight, like 40 wt? that she used to “cut” cinnamon rolls. I have a spool of thread in my kitchen for that very thing now, too!

I think string was used much more back in the day than now. I couldn’t even find string until I got the idea to look for twine. Ha, ha! 🙂

Cat’s Cradle!! I used to play that all the time with my friends. What a cute little bag – the embroidered birdie is so sweet. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

I keep the string in my kitchen drawer…. an old habit. Cat’s cradle, wrapping packages and trussing(?) the turkey are the things I use it for. Now, I think I need that cute bag for something, I just don’t know what.

I have no doubt that Mom used it for packages and cooking and all sorts of useful things. As a child, however, I was only interested in string art and games. 🙂
