So beautiful – I’m jealous of your roses (I can’t grow them here.)

Your roses are doing well in spite of the weather. I love roses too.

These photos were taken earlier in the season, so, yes, they are suffering now. I am letting the deer have them. There is always next year. 🙂

Looks like you’re enjoying the summer – yay!
I especially like the 2nd to last rosebud – to my eyes it looks slightly ‘imperfect’ and roses just do everything with grace – even ‘imperfect’.

I decided a long time ago that perfection is overrated. I am never going to be a pro photographer, and I find the imperfection in nature pretty darn interesting! And we all need grace; I know I do! 🙂

Not anymore, Kathy. I took these a few weeks ago. But they were lovely! 🙂

Beautiful blooms. Looks like your garden provides the right conditions for roses to thrive. Are any of them scented?
An hours drive from us is Mottisfont Abbey. The walled gardens are full of roses – bushes, standards and climbing. During June the gardens stay open in the evenings so visitors can wander around and enjoy the roses and their scent in the warm glow of the late sun.
We have one rose bush – we bought it to mark our 25th Anniversary. It struggles a bit in our chalky, alkaline soil but this year it has given us two flushes of lovely white flowers.

They all have a scent, Allison, but the most fragrant, by far, is the purple one. It smells heavenly! I am so glad that your very special rose has bloomed well for you this year! 🙂 The nearest public rose garden from me is two hours away…I do love to visit it!

I don’t remember the name now, but it is a delicate mini rose that was given to me many, many moons ago, Margaret. 🙂
