In this blogpost, I showed a few straight set quilt designs using the Mother’s Choice Quilt Block.
I also played with the block using an on point setting.
The same block set on point with no sashing or alternate blocks:
I don’t like the above design at all. However, I do like the blocks set with sashing and cornerstones:
And I like the block set with plain setting triangles; they frame the design:
Maybe I would like this one better in a different colorway, or with some alternate blocks to play with:
I like the center of this one (and it doesn’t look set on point, but it is):
The stars are coming out to play:
Also set on point, but looks like a straight set:
Which design appeals to you? Or would you create a different one? There are lots of possibilities!
Happy quilting!

I like number 5 Laura. Good focus point on the quilt!

I don’t know which one I like the most; may have to play some more sometime. 🙂

I am partial to #4, but #5 would look amazing on a bed with the center medallion as a focal point. Good luck deciding.

You have a good point. Silly me…I never think of the focal point for a bed. Maybe that is a too obvious purpose for a quilt. Ha, ha! I may have a problem with seeing what is right in front of me.

I like most of them … the exceptions don’t have sashing.
I also like that previous comment about the focal point as seen on the bed. You are not the only one to forget what the real purpose of a quilts is!
