365 Challenge Scrap Placemats

My first finished project of the year is two placemats made from the scraps of the 365 Challenge quilt.

I know that I should have taken the time to center that cable quilting, but it is a placemat, not an award winning masterpiece. Do we really care?

All of the scraps are sorted and put away.

The sewing machine is cleaned up.

The sewing studio is tidied up.

I feel pretty good about 2023!

Tulip Placemats

While internet surfing, I came across a cute tulip tutorial by Kristina at Center Street Quilts.

Tulip Placemats

If I sewed three tulip blocks to make one placemat, the size would be 15″ x 18″…exactly the size of my accent tables (I have two of them…his and her’s you know)!

I wanted to get this made last month, to replace the Valentine placemats that are still on my tables.

I don’t have to decorate ‘in season’, do I?

One day, I might have enough seasonal table toppers/placemats to decorate in a timely manner.

That’s the goal.

August OMG 2017 Goal Update

The number 8 was drawn by Patchwork Times, as the monthly goal for August.

My number 8 goal was to do something with some machine applique floral sample blocks.

I squared the blocks to 12-1/2″.

Triangles were added to set the blocks on point.

After squaring and setting the blocks on point, I decided to turn them into autumn placemats.

I kept the quilting simple; straight lines, echo, and meandering (I’m not making Van Gogh or Picasso art pieces after all). Here’s a look at the back:

I’ll be gifting these placemats…it feels good to have turned the blocks into something useful!

I am linking up with OMG at Elm Street Quilts.  Take some time to see what other folks have finished for the month!

I am also linking up with Patchwork Times .
