Slow Sunday Stitching

I did not post updates of my slow stitching project last Sunday because I was blessed to spend the entire day with family!

So happy!

I do have an update for you, however.

I have completed stitching the alphabet letters!

Here is a last look at the letters before washing and pressing:

I shall be cutting the letters apart and then I shall have to decide if I still want to make pincushions, like Jenny did, or make a wall hanging with them.

There is no hurry to make the decision, since I have a free motion quilting project currently under the needle.  I don’t want to set up the sewing machine for another project until I finish the quilt that I am working on (it has just been too hot to work on it).

I have already chosen another hand stitching project, and I will be working on it this Sunday.

The project is called Farm Girl, and comes from Australian Country Threads magazine Volume 5 Number 11…January 2006.

Farm Girl

I already have a certain someone in mind to gift this project to when I am finished!  She is a born and raised farm girl, so I think she will love this!

The amount of satisfaction you get from life depends largely on your own ingenuity, self-sufficiency, and resourcefulness. People who wait around for life to supply their satisfaction usually find boredom instead. -William C. Menninger

However desperate the situation and circumstances, don’t despair. When there is everything to fear, be unafraid. When surrounded by dangers, fear none of them. When without resources, depend on resourcefulness. When surprised, take the enemy by surprise. -Sun Tzu

Obstacles, of course, are developmentally necessary: they teach kids strategy, patience, critical thinking, resilience and resourcefulness. -Naomi Wolf

…as your father, my instinct is to protect you … Other people will want to protect you too. But remember that you are not a damsel in distress, waiting for some prince to rescue you. Forget the prince. With your brain and your resourcefulness, you can rescue yourself. -Brad Meltzer

When you agree to collaborate, you agree to jump off a cliff holding hands with everyone, hoping the resourcefulness of each will insure that you all land on your feet. -Frank Gehry

A very good case can be made, on moral as well as economic grounds, for a system in which the individual is required to stand on his own feet, not to lean on the state for handouts. Character, resourcefulness, capacity are formed and developed in struggle with obstacles, not in waiting passively for benefits from outside. -William Henry Chamberlin

Westerns aren’t about the gunfight, even though it has to be there at one point. It’s not what they’re about, at least the good ones. It’s about the drama. It’s about the resourcefulness of men and women. -Kevin Costner

I have always loved and avidly read the novels of Jack London, Jules Verne and Ernest Hemingway. The characters depicted in their books, who are brave and resourceful people embarking on exciting adventures, definitely shaped my inner self and nourished my love for the outdoors. -Vladimir Putin

When you face a choice between being polite and being honest, err on the side of the truth. It’s better to be disliked but respected than to be liked but disrespected. In the long run, the people we trust the most are those who have the courage to be sincere. -Adam Grant
