A Stroll in the Garden

We experienced our first winter snowstorm of the season.

Winter Snowstorm

It knocked out our power for about 45 hours.

It wasn’t a hardship for Hubby and me. We did fine with the woodstove, the barbecue, and the gravity spring.

So I had a little fun and went outside with my camera and took a few photos of the snow as it was coming down.

And I went out early on the morning after and photographed the sunrise.

As the sun rose higher, and the clouds burned off, I took a few photographs of a beautiful day!

Two photos from the same viewpoint…one at sunrise, and one in full daylight. I love them both!

Clearly, there is no power flowing through this line!

Hubby drove off to town to charge our devices.

Life is good.

Home Sweet Home -Drilling

I mentioned that drilling was going to happen at my place when I shared the excavation in this post.

It has begun.

I had no idea what was coming.

I didn’t know how destructive this process is!  I don’t mind digging in the dirt, but…my, oh my!

Home Sweet Home -Drilling

I have men folk who can’t be here to enjoy this process, so most of the photos are for them.

Yes, you…Dad, Dan and Chris!

I hope it can be rescued after this!

Butterflies are nature’s angels.
They remind us what a gift it is to be alive.

Butterflies can’t see their wings.
They can’t see how truly beautiful they are,
but everyone else can.
People are like that as well.

How does one become a butterfly?
You have to want to learn to fly so much that you
Are willing to give up being a caterpillar.

Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness and still become something beautiful.

Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life. And everyone deserves a little sunshine.

Hubby and I depend upon a gravity spring for our water.  This year the spring was not enough for the house and the gardens.  So we decided that it was time to put in a well.

We’ve waited.

And waited.

Finally, this week, this happened:

Home Sweet Home -Drilling

There is a stake showing where to drill.  Meanwhile, the excavation had to happen in order to bring in the drilling equipment (not so easy when one lives on the side of a mountain).

Looking down to our driveway (lost one pear, and one apple tree to the excavation):

Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.
