A Stroll in the Garden

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” -Matthew 6:28–29

“This is what l love about flowers. Wherever possible, they just grow; in between the weeds, through a crack in a stone, in the middle of mud or moss – they just grow fearlessly, so confident of their short-lived beauty.”  ― Asma Naqi

Let’s Sew Quilt Along

Block 10 of Segment 3 of the Sew Let’s Quilt Along QAL is a cute Button Block design by Laura Piland of Slice of Pi Quilts .

Like the other blocks in this QAL, this block was fun to make!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

For the sharp eyed participants, you will see that the white inner ring of my yellow button is too wide.  I’d like to say that was a design choice, but alas, I had a happy accident!  Yes, I do like the wider ring…even if it was supposed to be skinny!

The blocks are stacking up on the design wall!  They make me smile!

July OMG 2019 and Aunt Bea’s Parlor Update

My July OMG was to make a Disappearing Nine Patch (D9P) quilt.  Julie Cefalu’s quilt along was a fun motivator and Julie has great instructions!

I am happy to say that I completed my version of the D9P and posted about it here!

Disappearing Nine Patch

I began working on the pattern called Aunt Bea’s Parlor sometime before January 2017 , and decided to move this project along by participating in the OMG (One Monthly Goal)  and Patchwork Times challenges.  Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching also motivated me to get stitching!

In May of 2017, I posted 12 completed embroidered blocks in a slide show here.

In October of 2017, I had all 20 of the blocks completed.  I had also begun to piece the top. I never created a slide show with the rest of the blocks, but I did show the blocks in various blog posts as I completed them.  If you want to see what they look like, simply do a search by typing ‘Aunt Bea’s Parlor’ in my search bar.  All of the posts will come up.

The partially finished top fermented in the closet until May of 2019.  Do your projects ever need this special time?  Mine often do.

Last month, I had the top completely pieced and basted into a quilt sandwich.

Since then, I have been free motion quilting on it at every opportunity that I could.
