Sea Holly

Don’t flatter yourselves that friendship authorizes you to say disagreeable things to your intimates. On the contrary, the nearer you come into relation with a person, the more necessary do tact and courtesy become. -Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.

Sea Holly

Courtesy is a silver lining around the dark clouds of civilization; it is the best part of refinement and in many ways, an art of heroic beauty in the vast gallery of man’s cruelty and baseness. -Bryant H. McGill

Phlox

The true greatness of a person, in my view, is evident in the way he or she treats those with whom courtesy and kindness are not required. -Joseph B. Wirthlin

No one is more insufferable than he who lacks basic courtesy. -Bryant H. McGill

Courtesy is the one coin you can never have too much of or be stingy with. -John Wanamaker

The small courtesies sweeten life; the greater ennoble it. -Christian Nestell Bovee

Yucca

Whatever happened to courtesy? What can be so urgent that you have to look down at your phone in the middle of a dinner conversation with people who matter to you? You can’t wait five minutes before staring at your phone? -Martin Cooper

Hollyhock

A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love. -Saint Basil

Liatris Gayfeather

Courtesies of a small and trivial character are the ones which strike deepest in the grateful and appreciating heart. -Henry Clay

Love In A Mist

Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy. -Jacques Maritain

Coral Bells

I’ve met the Queen a couple of times, and she’s been delightful. In fact, I often find myself thinking: ‘What would the Queen do in this situation? Write a thank-you note? Yes, I’ll do that.’ She’s all about courtesy. -Jools Holland

Monkshood

Courtesy should be a continuous action, not something to be turned on and off like a faucet. -Anonymous

The grace of God is courtesy. -Hilaire Belloc

Slow Sunday Stitching

I did not post updates of my slow stitching project last Sunday because I was blessed to spend the entire day with family!

So happy!

I do have an update for you, however.

I have completed stitching the alphabet letters!

Here is a last look at the letters before washing and pressing:

I shall be cutting the letters apart and then I shall have to decide if I still want to make pincushions, like Jenny did, or make a wall hanging with them.

There is no hurry to make the decision, since I have a free motion quilting project currently under the needle.  I don’t want to set up the sewing machine for another project until I finish the quilt that I am working on (it has just been too hot to work on it).

I have already chosen another hand stitching project, and I will be working on it this Sunday.

The project is called Farm Girl, and comes from Australian Country Threads magazine Volume 5 Number 11…January 2006.

Farm Girl

I already have a certain someone in mind to gift this project to when I am finished!  She is a born and raised farm girl, so I think she will love this!
