A Stroll in the Garden

Remember the sufferings of Christ, the storms that were weathered… the crown that came from those sufferings which gave new radiance to the faith… All saints give testimony to the truth that without real effort, no one ever wins the crown. -Thomas Becket

Patriotic Table Topper

One of my Focus goals this year was to make table runners. I have made one. Maybe I can get two made before the end of the year!

With that goal in mind, I have chosen a patriotic pattern by Bonnie Hunter, called the Courthouse Square. She also has a similar pattern called Irish Courthouse that you might be interested in. I like both of them!

I ‘shopped’ my own stash, and cut out all of the parts. Then I layered nine blocks so that I could piece them all together rather than piecing one block at a time.

I pieced the blocks from the center to the outside.

All nine completed blocks:

And that is where they sit (or hang, actually…on the design wall); waiting for me to decide if I want to set them the same as in the pattern, or do something else. I need to decide the size that I want.

Visiting My Daughter-Day 4…Trinidad State Beach

Our daughter loves the beach (and why wouldn’t she…being the wonderful Coast Guard wife that she is), and therefore, our vacation had to include a visit to nearby Trinidad State Beach.

Trinidad State Beach

Trinidad is another great area to visit over and over again. There are a couple of beaches to play on, tide pools to explore, a pier, a good restaurant to eat at (which we did), and trails to hike.

Trinidad State Beach

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I did not know that my camera settings were askew (that mischievous little demon), so I am again apologizing for the not-so-sharp photos. I hope they are enough to inspire you anyway!

Trinidad State Beach

My family chose to hike the trail along the bluffs as well as play on the beach. The foliage is lush along the bluffs!
