What happened to March? Anybody know?
I didn’t go into the sewing studio until the last two days of the month.
The Hubster and I spent quite a bit of time outdoors. We cleared and burned a whole lot of brush. We do expect a ban on the use of chain saws and a ban on burning to come early this year. Like many parts of the country, we have had drought followed by a very mild winter. Not good.
We became great-grandparents on March 11 to a baby boy!
The little fam lives in Oregon, and we hope to visit soon. Wren Thomas was admitted to the hospital yesterday, giving us all a scare. He is very jaundiced, but after many tests, the little fella was declared healthy and discharged today (the 31st).
Our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter visited for a few days. They came to celebrate the life of our daughter-in-law’s Mom, who had passed recently. Their stay here was too short, as always.
The Hubster got sick, so outdoor chores are on hold. Unfortunately, they will wait for him.
I finally have all of the parts sewn for Silk Path! Now all I need to do is get it laid out and sewn into a flimsy. This will be interesting, since I have no space to lay out such a large project.
I love it when the sunshine warms up the crocus and the petals open to reveal the bumble bees!
So sweet!
“Then from my heart will young petals diverge,
As rays of the sun from their focus;
I from the darkness of earth shall emerge,
A happy and beautiful Crocus!
Many, perhaps, from so simple a flower,
This little lesson may borrow,
Patient today, through its gloomiest hour,
We come out the brighter tomorrow.”
-Emily Dickinson
Have fun and carry on!

I love crocus! Yours are so pretty. Sounds like you had an eventful March. Hope your hubby is feeling better and little Wren is getting back to normal, too. Have fun sewing those beautiful Silk Path blocks together!

I love crocus, too, Diann! The Hubster is still in bed this morning, but he is improving. I am very grateful that Wren is home and well cuddled! 🙂

Wren Thomas is a wonderful name! I’m thrilled for you as you don a new role as GreatGranma. After all the detail work in those squares, the next step of laying them out will be creative bliss IMHO. I can’t wait to see how they all stitch up. My go-to tends towards Earth Tones and your newest flimsy will fit the bill on that. Take care of yourself and your nestlings…

My go-to is warm earth tones as well, Laura. Of course it is! 👍
I can still see my grandson as a toddler doing so many toddler things. Odd to think of him as a father, let alone me as a great grandma. The Hubster says to stop with great. I’m great! 🤣

Welcome to great grandparent club 👩🍼It is such a precious experience and gift to have a part in the next generation. Fabulous name Wren Thomas. So glad he’s ok, those little scares can be really scary. My girlfriend and I call it the GG Club so welcome 😊 I too have no place lay quilts out, grrrrr it’s so maddening. Sending quick healing prayers out for the hubster.

Thank you for inviting me to your GG club, Sharon! I am sooooo blessed!
The Hubster is struggling…this is one nasty head/chest cold, or whatever it is. I do think he is improving, however. Thanks for the prayers! 🙂

Congrats on the arrival of your great-grandson, Laura. I love his name. Sounds like Wren had a bumpy start but is doing better now. I’m sorry about the loss of your DIL’s Mom.
Our crocuses are not up yet. We did not have a snowstorm today, although 5-6″ was predicted.
I hope your DH is on the road to recovery.

You can’t be old enough to have a great grandson!!! I’m glad that little Mr. Wren is doing well now. You have done well to get all those blocks finished for Silk Path. It’s going to be a gorgeous quilt. We were out cleaning up last weekend. Finally getting rid of the tree debris after the contractors finished up with the soffit repairs. It has been oozing from the sky now for 3 days, but very little for the effort, but we will take every drop!

If you are looking at my profile pic, Kathy, then ignore it. Ha, ha! I let my hair go grey long ago, and I don’t remember how to change my profile pic. Believe me, I definitely am an old lady. 🤣
You had quite the debris to clean up! I am glad that things are getting back to the way they should be. Except for moisture. Some of us really, really need it!

Congrats on that sweet little one! I can’t believe you have a great grandchild…what a blessing. March did go quickly and I have been at a sewing standstill. Gonna try to “force it” into the background and get some sewing done tomorrow…Love seeing silk road all ready to sew together – quite an accomplishment. Hope hubs is feeling better.

My quiver of arrows grows…a blessing indeed!
Nice to know that I have company in the not-sewing department! I did get the blocks laid out, most of them anyway. I don’t have the space to lay out the whole thing. Anyway, sewing has commenced. I wish you great progress in your efforts tomorrow! 🙂
