And More Pillowcases

You may remember from a previous post that I had cut fabric to make pillowcase kits for donations.

A lot of fabric.

And a lot of kits.

Sewing Studio

I originally was going to spread the sewing out over the year.

Then I decided to see how many I could sew in March.

I have lots made, and I still have lots to sew.

Pillowcases

I don’t own a serger, so I have chosen to make French seams.

This takes me a little bit longer, but there are no exposed seams in these pillowcases, and I like that.

Spring is showing herself with sunshine and bright green things poking up from the soil.

It is getting hard to stay indoors!

We will see how many more kits I can get finished through the rest of this month!

Have fun and carry on!

  1. So colorful and fun! I don’t like exposed seams either, so I’ve used the “burrito” method and been happy with that.

  2. Laura, I hope you keep a count of these! Some very bright and happy colors there. I do all of my pillowcases with French seams too. It doesn’t take that long, and they are so much nicer that way.

  3. Oh you busy beaver, you! The colors are fantastically uplifting – probably makes it even more fun while doing the grunt work of sewing them all up.
I **love** French Seams. Back in the day when I made drapes for our Living Room (as a normal-thing I used to do) I was introduced to French Seams and the effort is well worth the result IMHO!

    • Hey, Laura…I also have made curtains and drapes, and even a couple of roman shades back in the day. I keep telling myself that I should make a shade for the sewing studio window, but then I laugh and say, “What for?”. It would ruin my view! Ha, ha! I don’t worry about the sunshine since I have fabric stored away from it. Let the sun shine in! 😁

  4. That does look like a lot of pillowcases! But I’m sure you feel so productive 😀

That is a lot of pillowcases, but what a great idea. I need to sort through some fabric and move it along quickly. I admire you for making these all up!

  7. You really went to town on those pillow cases. They are all so cute and will be so loved! Maybe I should make pillow cases for my littles next year.

  8. When my son was little, he had bad dreams. An elderly lady from church who heard about his bad dreams stopped by one day to bring him a “magic pillowcase” that would make bad dreams go away. He slept perfectly after that. Her pillow cases were made just like yours. Thanks for the memory reminder.
