For the fun of it, the Hubster and I took a drive to remote Trout Lake. There is picnicking, camping, fishing, and hiking here; a great little spot for some outdoor fun!

The biggest emotion in creation is the bridge to optimism. -Brian May
I learned that a long walk and calm conversation are an incredible combination if you want to build a bridge. -Seth Godin
I did not realize when I took the photo below, that there is a rope for swimmers to swing on!
Do you see it?
Do you see it when I zoom in?
Did you spend summers swinging on a rope over the lake in your youth?
Fun!
See the world around you!

“The biggest emotion in creation is the bridge to optimism. -Brian May” Yesss! Your photos evoke satisfying optimism…I can’t help but chuckle at the HooDoo name of the canyon, though.
Oh and Yes to the lake swing thing – it got translated to antics done on a high hanging rope hammock in the back yard when at home. My folks must of done a lot of praying – HA!

I like the quote, too, Laura! I need to cross more bridges!
Here is a quick definition of hoodoo for ya:
A hoodoo (also called a tent rock, fairy chimney, or earth pyramid) is a tall, thin spire of rock formed by erosion.
Also from Wikipedia:
The name is derived from Hoodoo spirituality, in which certain natural forms are said to possess certain powers, but by the late 19th century, this spirituality became associated with bad luck. Prior to the English name for these geographic formations they were already the origin of many legends from Native Americans. For example, hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park were considered petrified remains of ancient beings who had been sanctioned for misbehavior.
I really do believe that we had better childhoods than today’s children! 🙂

What a hoot – HooDoo – Who knew?!
And I tend to agree, Laura. I think we grew up in a magical, albeit volatile, time. 🙂
