“I remember it as October days are always remembered, cloudless, maple-flavored, the air gold and so clean it quivers.”
― Leif Enger, Peace Like a River

“October had tremendous possibility. The summer’s oppressive heat was a distant memory, and the golden leaves promised a world full of beautiful adventures. They made me believe in miracles.” ― Sarah Guillory, Reclaimed
“This tree must be falling for me, as soon as I sat under it, it dropped its leaves.
Oh sweet October!” ― Charmaine J Forde
“What the light looks like in the pear trees, in October, is a hundred teardrops of gold, the whole orchard weeping.”
― Carole Maso, The Art Lover
“the fallen leaves in the forest seemed to make even the ground glow and burn with light” ― Malcolm Lowry, October Ferry To Gabriola
“This is October for me: Withdrawing into my own world, blocking out everything except the beauty of the season, my reflections and my relationship with God, I find that this is enough to sustain me through the long, cold, winter – and beyond…” ― Peggy Toney Horton, Somewhere in Heaven My Mother Is Smiling
“October’s Party
October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came –
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.”
― George Cooper

The quote from “The Art Lover” piqued my interest. Have you read the book? It appears it pioneered a type of novel publishing, ‘photo embedded fiction’. Yep, I googled it!

I also love the quote, especially since I have a pear tree. I used to have 2 pear trees but lost one when the well was dug. I have never heard of ‘The Art Lover’, but now I am intrigued! Off to Google I go! 🙂

It’s on mine, too – but so far not easily found. I just checked out the only book here in the entire SC lends library system by her: Ava. So I had to push myself, too! It must be a Laura thing!
