This and That

I still have my head into the genealogy.

I have discovered a couple more US Confederate soldiers.

And there is the ancestor who committed an especially vicious murder and was lynched for it.

Then there is the ancestor who was murdered with a gunshot wound directly to his heart…shot by his father.

It is almost like reading a riveting mystery novel for me, and I can’t tear myself away.

However, my Mom has requested a couple of small pillowcases, only about 12 inches by 19 inches, so I did have to come up for air.

The second pillowcase she wanted to match a quilt that I made and gifted to her in 2017. Thank goodness, I still have fabric left from making Aunt Sukey Spins Off!

The white is gone now, but I still have some red left.

Just for fun, I made a zip bag from scraps for my youngest sister’s tablet. I will give it to her the next time that I visit with her.

  2. A riveting mystery novel for sure! My goodness a few of your ancestors lived on the edge! It was a pillow case weekend, I guess; I made one too!

  4. Hi Laura! You just can’t make that stuff up – a real life mystery book. How fascinating to discover all of this. Did you mention any of this to your Mom? What did she think? I’ll bet she loved the pillowcases – so pretty. And the zipper bag for your sister’s tablet is nice – so sweet of you. You’re a good egg. Will that show up in your genealogy ages from now?!! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Oh, I am not making this stuff up! Ha, ha! I have photos and newspaper clippings to back it up.
Mom and my sister haven’t seen the pillowcases or zip bag yet. They live 2 hours away in the big city (I am very rural). I will have to take a drive one of these days to go visit.
If my blog is durable, then I will have genealogy ages from now (and it will be boring). Snort! 🙂

  6. What fascinating stories you are unearthing. I don’t know that much about our past, I sometimes hunt around a bit, but need to make a more concerted effort. Love your makes – all small but fun!
