Ironing Station

An item that has been on my to-list for some time was to create an ironing station in my sewing studio.

I am happy to say that it is finally completed! It didn’t even take that long to do!

Hubby cut a piece of plywood and glued leftover kitchen flooring to one side (no photo).

The other side of the wood has a layer of foam, followed by a layer of batting, followed by a layer of Insul-Bright and topped with a cotton polka dot print.

The board rests on three Ikea sets of drawers and measures 21″ x 65″.

Ta da! I am happy!

Good on you (and your handy hubby)!
I spy that lovely lime colored wall/ceiling behind that newest of work stations, too.

  As you know, I love the lime! I made a mistake and bought matte instead of a satin finish; it has been this way since 2012 and I am still happy in spite of my oopsie. 🙂

Looks great! I’ve been planning a better ironing station in my sewing room for ages using one of the IKEA wooden kitchen trolleys, thwarted by IKEA not having them in stock locally 😦

Hi Laura! I’ve been wanting to make one as well, and haven’t gotten around to it yet. Yours looks just fab!! I love the pretty fabric – go polka dots. Do you have it pulled away from the wall for when you’re ironing larger items? That has been another sticking point for me – where to put it?!! Great job. ~smile~ Roseanne

  You are sharp, Roseanne! Those sets of drawers do have wheels so, yes, I can pull it away from the wall for larger items. 🙂

      I don’t have the board glued or stapled or otherwise permanently adhered to the tops of the drawers. I can move this ironing board to my cutting table, or dining table downstairs, or the top of a large cabinet in the living room if I want to. 🙂
