“You will never get better with the macro lens unless you use it!”
So says my daughter (and my daughter-in-law, and my niece).
They are right. This post is for them.
I almost always shoot with my 55mm lens. I have a macro lens and I whine to them that I have trouble with it.
They are unsympathetic (Actually, they are sympathetic, but not enough to let me off the hook.). Smart girls.
So the following photos are my practice…trying to overcome camera shake…trying to focus properly…trying.

Now, aren’t you happy you took the dive into the macro?
My thoughts: pix#1-lovely natural composition, plus the browned edges of the leaves add something quilterly to the arrangement. pix#4-is it a seed pod or petals about to burst forth? this is a cool conundrum for the observer to ponder, so thank you photographer! pix#5-love the ‘plane’ this is on. pix#9&10-I don’t like petunias…but these are polka dotted and fun and then when macro-ed, those polka dots look like fireworks!

#4 is a calendula seed pod. It isn’t dried yet. I am not a big fan of petunias, either, but it is a pretty reliable bloomer! When I saw the varieties with spots, I just had to have them. I haven’t grown petunias in years. Ha, ha!
I’ve got a lot to learn about macro photography, and I expect I will do better when I figure out my lens.
