I thought it would be fun to share a little about my part of the world.
The following photos are slightly dark and ‘blue’. Yesterday, I was stitching all warm and snug inside my cozy home, so most of the photos of the blizzard are taken from inside, looking out.
Today, the sun shined briefly, but many 1000’s are without power. Mine is restored, and I am home from work for the day, so as soon as I post this, I will be going back upstairs to do some quilting.
I put away the Christmas decorations, and realized that I don’t have table runners and table toppers that I can use throughout the year. So I will be adding these types of projects to my FOCUS list.
I stitched together a curved nine patch (also known as Glorified nine patch) table runner. In fact, I have made two. I must’ve been mentally far away, because I cut out enough extra parts to make two. Sheesh! I forgot to take a photo, but the free pattern that I downloaded many years ago, is still available from Connecting Threads. You can find it here.
Pin basting, stitching in the ditch, and removing the pins are all completed. Here is a look at the back (I don’t know why I would remember to photograph the back and not the front):
I could call it done, but where is the fun in that? I will be doing some decorative free motion quilting (actually all of the stitching in the ditch was done free motion).
And I will show you the front when I am done.
I promise.

Here down under I am going to shut out the weather too, and turn the air conditioner on to keep us cool! Slight contrast in our local weather!

HAHAHA! I hope you are not impacted by the fires. Prayers to all – oh, the damage and devastation. ~smile~ Roseanne

There is more than a slight contrast, Judy! 🙂

Lucky you getting a day off for that. Has to get close to a foot here before things close down.

Yesterday was Sunday, Donna…my regular day off (the office is closed on Sundays). I definitely enjoyed my jammie day! I work for USPS…weather is not an excuse for staying home. Ha, ha! Neither is having the power out. A few co-workers came to work without their morning showers and coffee this morning.
I had 13″ before this last blizzard…this one added at least 4 more, and it is snowing again this evening.

Hi Laura! I think you remembered to take a shot of the back is because you can see the quilting better there. Maybe? Curved 9-patch?!! Thanks for sharing the link – I’ve never heard of such a thing. And your photos are fabulous. I love a good snow storm – not that I’m wishing for one. Let me make that perfectly clear – I do not want a big snow storm. But I love them when thrust upon me – staying inside, all warm and snug and WITH electricity watching the snow pile up. It’s great. ~smile~ Roseanne

You are right, Roseanne. You cannot see the stitching in the ditch from the front. It is purely utilitarian.
I also love a good snowstorm. I don’t even mind the loss of power, if it isn’t very long. I have lanterns, a woodstove and gravity spring water. I can manage just fine. What I don’t love is having to go out in it. They should only happen on my non-work days! 🙂

We have had very little snow, but these highs of 11-15 are a royal pain! Glad you are warm and safe and sewing!
