While on vacation last week, Hubby and I visited Old Mission State Park in Idaho. The first time that we visited (thirty something years ago), the park was undeveloped (no visitor fees; no visitor’s center) and we had small children with us.
It was just as interesting this time around, since I sure don’t remember everything that I saw from yesterday, let alone thirty something years ago!
Today, I will share photos about the Parish House. Since I have so many photos, the next blog post will show pictures of the Mission of the Sacred Heart…the oldest building in Idaho.

Love the detail here…a beautiful decorative door hinge!
Hubby and I walked the grounds, as we did when we had small children and they needed to stretch their legs. The park is a beautiful , serene place to walk. There are cemeteries and woods to explore, as well as open grassy areas with picnic tables.
While walking, we flushed out a moose. No photos…we were all surprised and the moose went his way, and we went ours.
If you are traveling, need a rest area and enjoy history, I recommended this little park!

What a challenge to cook on that tiny stove with no counter space. Sounds like a fun day.

I wonder if they had some sort of side board/table that is no longer there? It certainly would be a challenge considering how many one might be cooking for! 🙂

We enjoyed it as well when we visited there several years ago and did take a photo of that moose. 🙂

Hi Sue!
We were told that the bull seems to be a permanent resident, but he has had family there. 🙂

Fascinating! I love seeing how different styles from all over Europe gradually amalgamated and made use of US raw materials to develop building and living styles all your own.
