Last Christmas in July Challenge Update

I haven’t made any more progress on the Christmas Lone Star.

But I have managed to sandwich and quilt the seven table mats.

I really thought that was as far as I was going to get, but I got them all bound, too!

It has been a productive month!

Christmas in July Challenge Update

When Kathy issued her Christmas in July Challenge, I said that I would move my Lone Star project forward by quilting the star points this month.

The month is halfway over, and I have completed the challenge.

I used a variegated green, red and white thread to free motion quilt the star.

Since I have completed my goal, and since this challenge is supposed to be for the month, I may just keep going on this project. I may quilt the red inner border.

I may.

But you know how the squirrels are…those masters of distraction.

Wendy posted about a sweet little table topper over at her blog, Pieceful Thoughts.

Turns out that I have all I need to make this topper, including the hexagon ruler, and a shoebox full of fabric squares that were exchanged with guild members (back in the day…like the 90’s to be more specific).

So I did.

Make one, that is.

It is already gifted.

But this is Christmas in July. And I have that loaded shoebox.

So I have already cut out enough hexagons for 7 (seven more) Christmas gifts (and barely made a dent in that box)!

I may spend the rest of July cutting out background pieces.

Thank you, Kathy and Wendy!

Really…I mean it!

I am linking up with Kathy over here. You might want to visit, and be encouraged to get your Christmas projects moving!

Christmas in July Challenge

Kathy, at Sewing, Etc., issued a Christmas in July challenge. You can read about it here and here.

There are no rules. The point is to encourage one another while moving our projects forward. There is no pressure to finish a project, no deadlines to make. Simply move a project forward.

I decided to move my Lone Star project forward.

I last worked on this quilt in January. I had completed quilting in the ditch.

Christmas Lone Star

My plan to move my project forward is to free motion quilt the star points this month.

That’s it.

No pressure.

Just moving forward.

How about you? What project would you like to move forward? Need some encouragement?
