Bowl Cozies, a Potato Bag, and a Rail Fence

I have made bowl cozies before, but they were all given away as gifts.

It is nearly chili and soup weather!

When the Hubster figured out that I was making bowl cozies, he got excited.

We are going to be using these!

I have also made potato bags and given them away.

I needed another for a quick gift and it sure doesn’t take long to make these!

One of the things that I wanted to do this year was use up some of my hand dyes.

I have chosen Bonnie Hunter’s Checkerboard Rails pattern to help me out.

Rail Fence

This is very easy sewing and I think I have enough rail fence blocks made for a good-sized quilt.

I do need to make more four patches and then I will lay this out and see if I have enough.

Have fun and carry on!

Potato Bags

I didn’t jump on the wagon when potato bags were so popular a few years ago. However, I did put them on my to-do list (Yeah…it takes me awhile to get around to everything on the ultra long to-do list).

Back in January (Am I really saying ‘back in’ already?), I cut out kits to make several bags. I wish I had vegetable themed fabric, but I went with what I have.

There are several free tutorials on the internet. There is also one on the back of the batting package.

You definitely want to use 100% cotton for all of your materials. No metallic fabric! Play it safe…these bags will be used in a microwave!

These bags are quick and easy to make!

They are useful and are great to have on hand whenever you need a quick gift.

Mine are about 9″ square…plenty of space for a couple of potatoes (or corn, carrots, etc…).

I wish I had made these sooner; they are a fast way to cook potatoes!

Done!
