Floral Reflections

Now that the Let’s Sew quilt is finished, the next project on my Focus 2020 list that I choose to tackle is Floral Reflections.  I talked about this project back in November 2019.

Floral Reflections

There have been several updates since then.

Floral Reflections

I don’t have photos of it, but I am currently stitching in the ditch all of the sashing and border seams.  Most of the basting pins are now removed, and the quilt is easier to handle.

I thought that I would be traditional and quilt hanging diamonds, but I have changed my mind.  I am machine quilting, and I don’t want to quilt over the applique, nor do I want to break thread.

Therefore, I will be outline stitching the applique and stitching a filler design in the blocks.

Let’s Sew Quilt Along Finish!

I can finally put the Let’s Sew quilt project on the finish line!

Woo hoo!

Lets Sew Quilt Along

Bulky seams and tension problems created some time with Jack the Ripper, but we worked it out together.

This quilt spent a lot of wait time spread out on the cutting table.

So much time that the Quilt Inspector created her own artsy addition; enough kitty hair to make a carpet overlay.

I guess she assumed ownership and was using the quilt for her mattress.

Then she must have changed her mind about the sleeping arrangement, because she barfed on the quilt (Was I not supposed to tell you that?).

The commercial orange fabric bled when I cleaned up after the Inspector.

These things never happen to anyone else.  Right?

A Stroll in the Garden

Butterflies are nature’s angels.
They remind us what a gift it is to be alive.

Butterflies can’t see their wings.
They can’t see how truly beautiful they are,
but everyone else can.
People are like that as well.

How does one become a butterfly?
You have to want to learn to fly so much that you
Are willing to give up being a caterpillar.

Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness and still become something beautiful.

Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting, small but approachable, butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life. And everyone deserves a little sunshine.

Hubby and I depend upon a gravity spring for our water.  This year the spring was not enough for the house and the gardens.  So we decided that it was time to put in a well.

We’ve waited.

And waited.

Finally, this week, this happened:

Home Sweet Home -Drilling

There is a stake showing where to drill.  Meanwhile, the excavation had to happen in order to bring in the drilling equipment (not so easy when one lives on the side of a mountain).

Looking down to our driveway (lost one pear, and one apple tree to the excavation):

Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.
