A Small Dragon

“No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith.”
― R.A. Salvatore, Streams of Silver

A friend cherishes a bit of needlework that her mother had stitched. It was out of shape and rolled up and no one could enjoy it.

I told her that I would do something with it.

I washed the piece, and tried to block it back to shape the best that I could.

And then I made it into a little cushion cover. The orange stripe on the back conceals a zipper.

Now everyone who visits my friend can enjoy her Mother’s handiwork and have a smile when they visit her and see the little cushion on display.

Stay healthy.

Stay safe.

Keep smiling.

This and That

I still have my head into the genealogy.

I have discovered a couple more US Confederate soldiers.

And there is the ancestor who committed an especially vicious murder and was lynched for it.

Then there is the ancestor who was murdered with a gunshot wound directly to his heart…shot by his father.

It is almost like reading a riveting mystery novel for me, and I can’t tear myself away.

However, my Mom has requested a couple of small pillowcases, only about 12 inches by 19 inches, so I did have to come up for air.

The second pillowcase she wanted to match a quilt that I made and gifted to her in 2017. Thank goodness, I still have fabric left from making Aunt Sukey Spins Off!

The white is gone now, but I still have some red left.

Just for fun, I made a zip bag from scraps for my youngest sister’s tablet. I will give it to her the next time that I visit with her.

Stash Busters 2022 Challenge Update

In my last Jericho Walls variation Stash Buster post, I was at a crossroads on border treatments for my quilt flimsy.

I should probably have put a little pink border, followed by a wider black border and called it good.

It would have been.

Instead I chose to make four patches and border it with those.

It may be a bit overwhelming, but I am sticking with it anyway.

It now becomes a 48″ table topper (I have a large dining table) or wall hanging.

After I sandwich and quilt it of course.

In other news…

Betty Boop is back in the hospital.

I have nothing nice to say about her surgeon.

What kind of surgeon returns a beloved sewing machine that cannot be threaded, let alone stitch????

I didn’t take a photo of the poor girl, but her needle bar is placed so low that there was no access to thread it. I did manage…and we did sew this project together…we were gonna live with it. Until I put the free motion foot on. The needle bar is set so low that it can’t be used at all. Grrrrrrr!!!
