Fabric Jar Grippers

I took some time out to make a few jar grippers. Quite a few…these will be going into my gift box for when I need a quick gift to give.

I used rubber shelf liner that I cut into 5.5″ squares. I meant to cut it into 6″ squares, but I screwed up. No matter, you can cut to any size that you want to work with.

I also cut two pieces of 5.5″ squares of cotton fabric. With right sides together, and the shelf liner in between, sew around the edges and leave an opening for turning.

Turn and topstitch all the way around.

You are done!

There are a lot of tutorials online, especially on YouTube and Pinterest. Besides the differences in the size of the squares, other variations include a magnet and a ribbon for hanging, and some only use one square of fabric and the shelf liner.

Easy peasy, quick and useful.

This can be a scrapbuster, too, if you save chunks of scraps, as opposed to strips.

You might even want to make a smaller size and keep it with your hand sewing for the times that you may need a little help pulling the needle through your project.
