Slow Sunday Stitching

“October is the opal month of the year. It is the month of glory, of ripeness. It is the picture-month.”    – Henry Ward Beecher

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

I am a happy camper!  I actually finished a block in just one week!  Ha, ha!

Block 17 done!

Aunt Bea's Parlor - Block 17

The pattern, and my Google searches, show the embroidery being done with a running stitch, or a backstitch.  I chose to embroider with a stem stitch.

I don’t know why.  But there ya have it.

Onto Block 18!

Just three more blocks to go, and the embroidery portion of Aunt Bea’s Parlor will be finished!  Woohoo!

Slow Sunday Stitching

“In emerald tufts, flowers purple, blue and white;
Like sapphire, pearl, and rich embroidery,
Buckled below fair knighthood’s bending knee;
Fairies use flower for their charactery.”
― William Shakespeare

“Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern; it will come out a rose by and by. Life is like that – one stitch at a time taken patiently and the pattern will come out all right like the embroidery.”
– Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

I am still slowly; very, very slowly, stitching blocks from the Aunt Bea’s Parlor pattern.

I have finished block number 16.

Onto block number 17.

Progress is happening!

I did take a photo of block 16, which I will be working on for my next slow stitching project, but I’ve lost it. It is hiding somewhere in the depths of my computer.

So this one will be a surprise to you when I show it.

Meantime, I have my son and his fam visiting, so I believe I will go enjoy some more summertime fun!
