Declutter and Bee Mine

Have you been decluttering this month?

This is my sixth year doing Karen Brown’s Declutter Challenge.

I haven’t really had to do all that much decluttering in my sewing studio this year.

I have, however, taken the decluttering principles into my kitchen, laundry room, and entryway closet. Those areas have definitely benefited from the decluttering!

For once, I have actually sewn a seasonal project before the holiday has arrived!

Bee Mine by Jen Daly

Hello, Valentine’s Day!

Bee Mine by Jen Daly

I got the Bee Mine pattern by Jen Daly from Quiltmaker January/February 2019 magazine that a friend gave to me.

You can also find the pattern in Jen Daly’s Etsy shop.

And, yes, mine does look different from the original.

I made a mistake. Oops. That’s okay. I went with it and I like the version that I came up with.

Have fun and carry on!

Be My Valentine Table Runner

Be My Valentine

Be My Valentine table runner by Cherry Guidry was a fun squirrel project to make!

I knew this table runner would be a great fit for my large cabinet!

Of course, one wouldn’t have to make it this big. One could sew just a couple of hearts for the size needed (my finished size turned out to be about 16.25″ x 63″).

The quilting doesn’t really show up on the back, not just because I haven’t washed this yet (for the texture), but because the backing that I chose is a busy print.

This project was a very enjoyable break away from the computer (genealogy, ya know)!

Cherry has a wonderful website called Cherry Blossoms…you might like to check it out!

Be Mine – Part 2

Did I say this project would be quick?  Oops.

I’ve decided to machine embroider the block with 12 weight Aurifil and a topstitch needle.  I’ve memorized the way that my sewing machine forms the stitch so that I don’t make a mess of it!

It is slow going, but I’m liking how it looks.

The stems are hand embroidered.  I could’ve done the rest that way, but I really want to learn what this machine can do.

Nine blocks fused.  Eight left to machine embroider.
