More Fabric Dyeing

These will be the last of the fabric dyeing pieces that I am doing for the summer (and probably the year).

These photos aren’t perfect, but you get the idea of what each piece looks like. I am sharing the entire piece, and then a close up of each one.

Playing with the color has been quite fun!

This last photo is the most accurate of the color and makes a nice stack of possibilities!

Fabric Dyeing

I decided that there is no time like the present to take my dye supplies out of storage and have a play.

I thought that I didn’t have a lot, and I could use up what I have and be done with it.

I thought wrong.

I have lots of dyeing supplies in storage.

And I am enjoying time out of the sewing studio (and away from housework and weeding) playing around with color.

I also thought that my dyes are so old that they will have lost their intensity.

Wrong again.

I know the close ups don’t do it justice (I had my camera settings wrong), but the next photo does. Lots of deep, rich color!

Here’s two more:

And these are cocoons. Why? I don’t know. I must have had an idea to use these once upon a time.

At any rate…they take the dye well!

Garden Baskets

One of my sewing goals for this year, is to use some of the fabrics that I hand dyed years ago.

Hand Dyed Fabric

As you can see, I have enough for several projects!

Remember when I organized my paperwork (patterns, ideas, inspiration)?  While I was doing that, I was looking for something to do with the hand dyes.

I chose the Garden Baskets pattern designed by Janine Holzman and published in Quilters Newsletter Magazine 1997.

I have 18 blocks stacked and prepared for sewing.

This should be fun!
