Bowl Cozies, a Potato Bag, and a Rail Fence

I have made bowl cozies before, but they were all given away as gifts.

It is nearly chili and soup weather!

When the Hubster figured out that I was making bowl cozies, he got excited.

We are going to be using these!

I have also made potato bags and given them away.

I needed another for a quick gift and it sure doesn’t take long to make these!

Potato Bag

One of the things that I wanted to do this year was use up some of my hand dyes.

I have chosen Bonnie Hunter’s Checkerboard Rails pattern to help me out.

Rail Fence

This is very easy sewing and I think I have enough rail fence blocks made for a good-sized quilt.

I do need to make more four patches and then I will lay this out and see if I have enough.

Have fun and carry on!

Twister Table Runner

I have done so well with my monthly sewing goals (in my estimation at least) that I decided to find a quick and easy project to do.  Just for the fun of it.

I settled on the Twister Table Runner pattern by Shelley Robson of Pieced Tree Patterns.  I saw it made up with Halloween fabrics (very cute), and realized how easy it would be to create seasonal table runners with this pattern.  It would make quick and easy gifts.

Twister Table Runner

I resized the pattern, since my dining table is a large one, and I had a festive candy cane fabric that I could feature for the Christmas season.

I used blue chalk to mark a grid for quilting.

Fun to make, versatile and not terribly time consuming!

Washington State, where I live, has had its share of wildfires this summer.  One very small thing that I can do is join a few quilting sisters in sewing pillowcases for the many children who have been affected by these devastating fires.

Pillowcase

Pillowcases are easy to sew, and don’t require a lot of effort.  There are lots of tutorials to be found online to make pillowcases.

If making pillowcases happens to be on your list of Christmas gifts to make this year, then consider sewing an extra one and donating it to your local charity.
