Stash Busters 2022 Challenge 2

In a previous post, I shared that Border Creek Station sponsors a Stash Buster Challenge every year. This year the challenge block is a fun and versatile Jericho Walls variation.

I’ve managed to make 19 blocks total. I made a small wall hanging (or large table topper) that is marinating in the quilting queue, and these two patriotic table runners.

Why two sizes of table runners? I have two sizes of cabinets, that’s why.

This large cabinet sits in the living room.

And this cabinet is between the dining and living rooms (which is one large space in my house).

If you are looking for an easy block to make projects, consider giving Jericho Walls variation a try. There is a Facebook page with a whole lot of encouragement and inspiration to see; in case you need it!

Stash Busters 2022 Challenge Update

In my last Jericho Walls variation Stash Buster post, I was at a crossroads on border treatments for my quilt flimsy.

I should probably have put a little pink border, followed by a wider black border and called it good.

It would have been.

Instead I chose to make four patches and border it with those.

It may be a bit overwhelming, but I am sticking with it anyway.

It now becomes a 48″ table topper (I have a large dining table) or wall hanging.

After I sandwich and quilt it of course.

In other news…

Betty Boop is back in the hospital.

I have nothing nice to say about her surgeon.

What kind of surgeon returns a beloved sewing machine that cannot be threaded, let alone stitch????

I didn’t take a photo of the poor girl, but her needle bar is placed so low that there was no access to thread it. I did manage…and we did sew this project together…we were gonna live with it. Until I put the free motion foot on. The needle bar is set so low that it can’t be used at all. Grrrrrrr!!!

Stash Busters 2022 Challenge

Border Creek Station sponsors a Stash Buster Challenge every year.

One block design is chosen and you only make one block a week for a total of 52 weeks. There is a Facebook group with plenty of participation and inspiration! There are lots of overachievers in the group!

I joined the group a couple of years ago, but have yet to take part in the challenge. This year will be different. I may not make 52 blocks, but I am making a few.

I cut out enough fabric to make 9 blocks. My intention was to use the black (because I have a bolt of it in my stash).

Hmmmm…good thing I have a bolt of that dark pink to use up, too, since I’m sure not using much of the black!

I have never been a pink kind of gal, but I sure do think this block is pretty in pink!

And it is easy to sew!

9 blocks, sashing and a border already finished.

At this point, the quilt top measures approximately 37″. I am leaving it on the design wall until I can decide how to finish it. It will be a wall hanging or a table topper. I can’t decide whether to bind it now, or add another border to finish it.

To be continued.
