Backyard Visitor

Why am I sharing a photo of the top of one of my pear trees with a blurred clothesline stretched across?

Bear in Pear Tree

Oh.  That’s why!  Look who’s in the tree!

The bears have been busy (this is not the same bear that I shared with you in this post).

Bear Under Pear Tree

What a handsome dude he is!  He eats like a king!

He’ll be eating apples now.  The pear trees are stripped of their treasures until next year’s season of harvest.

The Backyard Visitor

We meet every fall, but I am always surprised when we meet.  This time of year, I know to look around before I decide to catch some Vitamin D and do some yard work.

I know it.  But I don’t always do it.

On this day, I had finished taking photos of a sewing project, and thought that I might as well do a little yard work while I was outside anyway.

That’s when I noticed her.

I keep a cautious eye, but I’m not worried.  We’ve met before.  But this time, I have my camera handy.

What is she interested in?

The pears aren’t ripe yet, but she likes them just the way they are.

Free Motion Quilt Challenge – October

The October Free Motion Quilt Challenge at SewCalGal is a tutorial from the guest expert, Teri Lucas.

Terri is very encouraging, and had us begin this month’s tutorial by drawing on paper.  She had us practice with our names and then add designs.

I chose Aurifil 50 weight thread and muslin to free motion quilt with.  This is because it is fall, and I didn’t want shiny materials.  I felt artsy and country bumpkin.

This copyright free coloring page is my inspiration:

And this is what I came up with:

Thread sketching and free-motion quilting.  I need practice with blending/shading for sure!

Want to see the back?

I like it!
