Perhaps Moses – Part 4

More applique added to the scene:

Nothing is fused or sewn down yet, but the figures are basically where I want them to be.  I’m not sure if I’m going to stop adding applique or not.  I’d like to keep the focus on Pharaoh’s daughter and not distract from her.

I decided to try a little painting with Shiva paintstiks.  I need a lot of practice, but these are fun to play with!

There will be thread painting, but I need to do some shopping first.  I’ll have to go to the big city, a two hour drive away, to find what I’m looking for.  That’s going to be a couple of weeks…snowstorms and jobs trump studio time.

Perhaps Moses – Part 3

Remember this?

A new job, the holidays, and other of life’s little interruptions and distractions kept me from working on this project.

But I’m making progress again.

And I’ve decided that I will depict Moses after all.  Baby Moses and his adopted Mom, the Pharaoh’s daughter.  You can find this story in the Bible, in Exodus Chapter 2.

Pharaoh’s daughter and Moses are not sewn to the background yet.  They are inspired by a child’s coloring page.

Coneflower Applique Pattern

I am offering a free pattern of an appliqued coneflower that I designed in 2010.

The original design was created for a raffle quilt for the Washington State Quilters-Spokane Chapter.

This is the block:

And this is the quilt (the block is in the center of the quilt):

This pattern could be used for pillows, totes, and other projects.  I am not including instructions with the pattern.  You choose your favorite applique method.

You can find the pattern by clicking on the Freebies tab above the header.
