HQAL March 2025

Here is where I was in the previous HQAL post:

Garden Baskets

You might not notice the difference, so I will point that out for you.

Compare the right side borders of both the 1st and 2nd photos. In the first, some of those leaves are white. That means that they have freezer paper on top, and are prepped for stitching. In the 2nd photo, those leaves are stitched and the freezer paper is removed.

This means that the quilt top is finished and is now marinating until time for quilting.

I am so happy to have reached this accomplishment!

I inherited these 3 fleece blanket kits from Mom, and they were my next project.

No Sew Fleece Throw Blanket

My granddaughter wants to make the kitty blanket. Yay! That left me with only 2 of these projects to make!

I made the cute snowman blanket first, and it is already gifted!

No Sew Fleece Throw Blanket

Next, I made the paisley blanket. It isn’t gifted yet, and I might just keep it handy for myself, or a guest, to cozy up with a book, or a movie.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

May 2022 OMG Update

Quilt on!

Tulip Placemats

In June, 2022, I shared a post where I showed a pair of spring placemats, or table toppers.

When Mom passed last July, I inherited a cabinet from her. The cabinet top is the same size as my two side tables (End tables, accent cabinets, side tables…what do you call them?).

I wondered if I had more of the same scraps that I had used for the original tulip placemats, so I dug in the scraps, and I found more.

I am not always matchy-matchy, but it was fun to make this tulip pattern and, of course, tulips do come in lots of colors.

Tulip Placemats

I cut my binding wider than I normally do. I dunno why…senior moment. I am pretty sure that I am not the only one who suffers those.

It looks nice anyway.

Pillowcase Update

I have stitched up the last of the pillowcases!

Pillowcases

They have all been boxed up and delivered.

All 137 of them!

Pillowcases

The Hubster helped me to deliver them to Shriners Children’s Hospital-Spokane.

Pillowcases

I have a soft spot for Shriners because they were a blessing to my family several years ago. I highly recommend them!

Pillowcases

Now that the pillowcase marathon is over, I was thinking about about what to do next.

I realized that I spent the first quarter of the year on decluttering and donations.

Pillowcases

Sticking with a quarterly schedule, I am going to spend the next quarter on one, or two, unfinished sewing projects. Maybe even start a new project.

I am going to sew at a more relaxed pace, especially since spring is here, and I want to be outdoors.

Pillowcases

The year is young yet. How are you doing with your goals?

Have fun and carry on!
