Boxy Bags and Zip Pouches

I am continuing to use up the scraps of hand-dyed fabric by making boxy bags.

You can find the tutorial for the boxy bags in my previous post.

I have made a couple more bags that are not pictured here.

I have also made zip pouches, one for each bag.  I found a basic tutorial over at Elm Street Quilts.

I plan on keeping a couple of bags for personal use (I’ve got a trip to Hawaii coming soon!).

The rest of the bags will be Christmas gifts.

I am going to fill them with goodies for the grandkids…the bags are the Christmas wrap!  It is going to be fun finding items to fill the bags!

I still have a lot of squares left.  I have thought to make pot holders (I do need some), pincushions, and other small items.

Frankly, I’m tired of these squares!  Ha, ha!  So I am giving them to some creative young ladies.

And I feel great…I am actually thinking ahead for Christmas!  No stress!

More Columbia River Time

This morning, Hubby and I took advantage of having one more day off together.  We took a little paddling jaunt on the Columbia River, near our home.

Columbia River

We both had trouble adjusting our little pocket cameras, so as beautiful as the morning was, our photos don’t do it justice at all!

We were right under the eagle, but looking into the sun at him (or her).  And, as I said, it just wasn’t a camera day for either of us.

It was wonderful to see the national mascot on Independence Day!

Hubby is tying down the canoe for the trip home.  Hopefully, we’ll have more opportunities to take it out this summer.

It has been a great couple of days off!

Little Twin Lakes

Sunday was a gorgeous day, so Hubby and I packed up a picnic lunch, and the canoe, and headed for Little Twin Lakes.

The area is primitive and remote.  The access washboard dirt road is narrow and about 6 miles.

But so worth the trip!

Beautiful and serene!
