December OMG 2017 Goal

The last Patchwork Times unfinished project of the year is number 10.  Judy actually announced number 6, but number 6 was the number for October, so I am going with the only number left for the year…number 10.

My number 10 is a mystery project from 2013.  It is called the Case of the Secret Garden by Linda Franz, the creator of Inklingo.

I found my project wadded up in a basket.  Although the mystery was fun, and the pattern is a good one, I did not like my fabric choices, and therefore, was not motivated to complete the quilt.

Since December is such a busy month, I am keeping my goal for this quilt small. I want to add simple borders (they’ll have to be simple…there isn’t much left of the fabrics used in this project).

Brownie points for me, if I get the top pin-basted into a quilt sandwich, but it isn’t likely.

I’ll be baking cookies for Christmas!

Bonnie Hunter On Ringo Lake Mystery

I am loving Bonnie Hunter’s On Ringo Lake mystery!

This is going to be fun !

I know that I will fall behind, but so long as I print out Bonnie’s clues, I’ll be able to create this quilt.

I’ve been auditioning fabrics.  I am using up scraps, too, but didn’t take a picture of them.

The nine patches from Clue #1 are done!

I’m off to a great beginning!

Thank you, Bonnie!

November OMG 2017 Goal Update

My OMG/UFO goal for November was the number 2 (drawn by Patchwork Times).

I wanted to turn the Brazilian embroidered piece into a pillow.

Brazilian Embroidery 001

To create texture, I free motion quilted around the embroidery.

I was frustrated when I discovered that some of my threads bled a bit when I removed my blue quilting marks with water.

However, I was able to wash out the bleeding with a good soak in Dawn dishwashing liquid.  (What a relief!)

The back of the pillow has a hidden zipper.

I am happy with how it turned out!

This pillow is destined to be a gift.
