Bow Tie and Floral Reflections Updates

In my last post, I settled on a bow tie layout.  Since then I have sewn the 3.5″ bow tie blocks into groups of 16 (4 x 4), and then into a larger block of 64 (8 x 8).  I have two of those big blocks finished, and I definitely like what I see.

I am hoping that I made enough bow tie blocks to sew into 12 of these bigger blocks for a quilt.

Remember the Floral Reflections project?

All of the stitching in the ditch is done.  All of the outline stitching is finished.  All of the basting pins are removed.

Time to get serious about how to quilt this baby.

* Just a quick note…progress is likely to be slower than my usual slow.  I will be working seven days a week.  It isn’t scheduled yet, but it is inevitable until after the holidays.

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns. -George Eliot

Bow Ties On the Design Wall

I put in a lot of overtime at work this week, and I was too tired to do much of anything else.

So I laid out some bow ties on the design wall and I like this layout:

I am quite happy with this scrappy project.  I’ve used up lots of old fabric and thread spool ends and bobbins of threads.  The only new fabric is the cheddar.

I’ve been making bow ties on a nonregular basis since June of 2018.

I may be looking for a new leader/ender project soon.
