Flower, the beautiful bovine invites us in for a grand tour of the Tillamook Creamery in Oregon!
*Clicking on a photo will give you a closer look!
Here are the highlights from the Hubster’s and my tour up in the viewing gallery:
There are sharp rotating blades in the very large vats.
Salt is the only additive, and it is added in the last step before compressing the curds into 40 pound blocks.
As the cutting machine cuts big blocks into pieces, the workers keep pace while breaking apart pieces, inspecting them, and putting them on the belt.
Tillamook Creamery cuts about a million pounds of cheese a week!
That’s about 115 two pound baby loafs a minute!
You can also visit a cheese and gift store, as well as the dining hall to get good eats!
See the world around you!

I.Love.Tillamook Cheese. Even more – Tillamook ice cream. Years ago (decades actually!) hubby went on his first business trip to Oregon and came back elated with his discovery of Tillamook cheese. Since that time, it has been the standard of excellence for us! 🙂
BTW: ‘Metal Detector’ sign on the assembly line caught my eye – good to know, even if I didn’t know it was necessary! Yikes!

I thought the same thing when I saw that sign, Laura! 🤣

So interesting to see the process! I don’t think I have ever been to a cheese factory!

When I was in junior high, I worked at a dairy farm milking cows. I never thought of it as hard work, I really enjoyed it! 🙂
