Here is where I was when I last posted about Bats and Boos:
I needed to make four star pumpkin blocks:
And set all of the blocks together:
One of those pumpkin star blocks is not like the other (I was not happy when Hubby pointed that out to me). Jack the Ripper helped me to fix that.
My Bats and Boos somehow came out bigger than the pattern said that it should. I guess my seam allowance isn’t the same as everybody else’s. So…I added a spacer border to make my personal math calculations work for the next border (which is very much influenced by Pat Sloan).
How come I don’t see such obvious mistakes until I have sewn it all together and I am looking through the camera (even then it is sometimes questionable that I will notice)!
What would I do with my best buddy Jack?
I don’t intend to add another border, and I have the backing pieced. The frankenbatt is pieced as well. I won’t be quilting until Betty Boop comes home from the hospital. I assume her much needed part is somewhere offshore on a cargo ship.
Quilt On!

Hi Laura! What a cute table topper for the season. I never would have noticed that you had any errors – it looks just great to me in all the photos. Ugg. I’m sorry Betty and you have to wait for a part to arrive. You’re doing great without her. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Thank you for the encouragement, Roseanne! When are you going to start this squirrel? Ha, ha! π

I really like this, Laura! I think mostly because of the non-stereotypical patterning of the pieces. It comes together more as an artistic interpretation of the season rather than a literal ‘Halloween/Autumn’ Themed quilt.
All the best to you and your Betty Boop!

That is why I like it, I think. It isn’t seasonal fabric, but it is looking pretty good if I do say so myself. Having said that, I will be using the only Halloween print that I have for the backing, and it is very obviously seasonal. π

I feel your pain with the lengthy hospital stay waiting for parts! The table topper is so cute!

I don’t do much with Halloween, but every time I see this pattern, I think I really should make one. I don’t know how I’d discover mistakes without my phone – it’s amazing what that third eye will show. You fixed your quilt up so nicely and it looks great on your table!

That third eye is a killer (or a blessing depending upon one’s attitude at the time)!
Why, yes, you really should make one for yourself. You don’t need Halloween fabrics to do it! π

Ahhh, yes. It is so delightful waiting on cargo ships and such. Not!
You have done so well with your UFO’s…maybe it is time to reward yourself with a squirrel project, Nanette! π

OK Ms Laura – I got a big squirrel project – Boos and Bats. Still waiting on the fabric from fat qtr, but Amazon had the majority of what I needed. I am going to make mine a little larger. It will be my birthday quilt to myself since I am a flying Witch on Halloween – born 2 minutes to midnight!
I love yours – and the border you added. Love those ribbon borders! Hugs

I could not find the error. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who did not get their Batts and Boos finished before Halloween. I just finished quilting mine and squared it up. I will put the binding on and be ready for next Halloween. That’s a real shame that you have to wait for your part.

I didn’t get mine finished for Halloween, but I used it as a table topper anyway. π
I like your version, Pamela! Thanks so much for visiting! π
