Umm! I wish your photos could be made ‘scratch and sniff’. I can imagine the scent coming from those lilac blooms. The iris look beautiful too. Hope you get to enjoy some time in the garden this weekend.

I looked up Robertson Davies and What’s Bred in the Bone – never heard of the author or books before reading your quote. Have you read the Cornish Trilogy? From an artblog summary of the book, it looks like it’s something I might check out. Thanks for the ‘lead’ on a possible new author to explore!
